What’s an Online Workshop?

Well, hello, and I’m glad you asked! Online workshops are live 30 minute interactive experiences where you’ll learn research-based therapeutic skills to improve your life during our time together in Zoom, no matter where you’re located in the USA.
So, need help with decreasing stress, increasing overall well-being, conquering Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) concerns, or breaking down an imaginary but very real and distressing mental barrier? I can help you gain control over these areas so that you can thrive.
My specialty is working with young adults (I’ve helped emerging adults for 10 years at a university counseling center) and using *music and art to assist you in living the life you want. If you love the experience, specialized skills, and passion I bring to my online workshops, read on!
*See below for research on effects of using music for therapeutic purposes. Other research, including therapeutic art and ADHD, can be provided upon request.

I also supervise therapists-in-training and love helping other psychotherapists enrich their skills. If that’s you, I want to assist you in expanding your professional expertise in certain areas, such as using expressive arts in therapy and treating clients who have ADHD. I’m an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP) after all!

Workshops for Anyone:
Well-being and Stress Management
Learn 4 easy-to-use coping skills to apply in your life today (found sound drumming for release, deep breathing, wellness stretching, and music journaling). You’ll need household objects used as drums but also can just use your body- I’ll show you how! I’ll also explain more about possible objects and give time for you to retrieve them during the workshop.

Breaking Down Mental Barriers
Engage in a hands-on creative activity to gain awareness and decrease mental blocks. Common household items are all that’s needed and I’ll help you in the workshop to gather and use something within your reach.

Meditative Drumming and Music Mindfulness
Learn how to embrace the moment and decrease worry about the past or the future by engaging in 4 coping skills (drumming using a household item, full-body attunement to music, music journaling, and the Iso Principle). Household item use will be explained during the workshop.

ADHD Workshops (with or without ADHD diagnosis):
ADHD and Time Management
You’ll learn a variety of tools to get you living your best life, from how to schedule tasks effectively, what apps are the most helpful to stay on track, and how to use certain genres of music for more success in managing your time.

ADHD and Concentration Management
Learn and apply new strategies in your life, in and out of class for students, including best apps, musical genres, and mindfulness.

ADHD and Social Skills Management
You’ll explore common traps you may fall into and how to improve interactions, such as social cues, boundaries, and body language, as well as using mindfulness for coping, and more.

ADHD and Emotion Management
Gain awareness of common mental health concerns that often pair with ADHD, such as anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. You’ll learn about symptoms, use multiple musical strategies for relief, and engage in progressive muscle relaxation.

Workshops for Therapists:
Using Expressive Arts in Therapy
You don’t have to be an art or music therapist to use some skills in therapy and I want to show you how. Take 1, 2, or all 3 parts to my series and integrate the arts in your therapy to help clients who have difficulty expressing themselves, have fear using their voice, or have a history of anxiety, social anxiety, low-self esteem, trauma and more. If you supervise therapists-in-training, you’d also benefit from these new skills in supervision.
Part 1- Education- Learn about expressive arts therapy (concepts, history, cultural relevance, and research-based benefits) and how to create a safe space for your clients to use art in session.
Part 2- Engagement- Experience a hands-on creative activity looking within yourself that can, in turn, help your clients engage in expressive arts. You’ll also learn a variety of tools for you to apply in therapy.
Part 3- Music Deep Dive- Take a deep dive into using musical interventions in therapy. You’ll learn music-specific tools to deepen your therapy sessions.

Treating Clients for ADHD Concerns:
Learn diagnostic information and application to make the most effective choices in treatment for your clients who you think or know have ADHD. Take 1, 2, or both parts for enhanced learning. The first part of the series is especially helpful for new therapists.
Part 1- Education- Increase your knowledge of how to assess/refer for ADHD testing and medicine, secondary traits, cultural implications, and co-morbidity.
Part 2- Application- Learn strategies for treating ADHD including concerns of time management, concentration, and social skills. You’ll also gain knowledge of musical interventions to apply in sessions as well as to give as work outside of sessions.

We ARE music so let’s use it to our advantage.
- Your heartbeat is rhythm (the beat)
- Your voice is melody (the story, the carrier of the song)
- Your health is the harmony or body and mind (supports the story, emotional tone)
- Your breath is silence that allows us to rest (rests)
