Personal Development Therapy with Christine Dassow, LMHC, NCC, ADHD-CCSP- Available Online for Florida Residents (including college students who aren’t permanent)
Does This Sound Familiar?
You’re living on your own for the first time as a young adult and feel stuck but you don’t know why.

You think, “Am I the same person I was in high school? Why don’t I feel like myself anymore?” Maybe you’re questioning your interests or major/career and don’t know where you’re headed in school or in life.

Maybe your identity is unclear for your values, your gender, or your sexuality. Or, you know who you are but are afraid to come out to the world, especially to your friends and family.

Now that you’re away from home, you may realize that you don’t have the same spirituality as your parents and want to explore what you do believe. You think, “Would that make me a bad person?” and feel guilt for even thinking this way.

At this stage of your life, you’re developing as an independent person—who you are, what you stand for, and who you want to be in the future. This is normal as a young adult, but sometimes the uncertainty can cause confusion, chaos, or mental health concerns such as anxiety or depression.

Now, want the good news? You can get unstuck and be the person you want to be, the person you feel like you are, the person you always saw yourself as…sometimes you just need a helping hand.
What are Personal Development Areas?
There are many areas we all grow and develop in as we hit adulthood, so let me tell you about a few.
- Identity (who am I? What are my values or beliefs in the world? What interests me? What are my strengths? What’s my purpose?)
- Gender and/or sexuality (questioning, transitioning, coming out)
- Spirituality (changing beliefs, not believing in an entity anymore or at all, spiritual guilt)
- Career (interests for your life’s work, college major and career choices)
- Social growth (reading social cues from others, body language, communication, better relationships)
- Life functioning (time management/efficiency in life skills and tasks/organization)
There’s so many more too! Whatever you want to grow stronger in, we can explore it and get you living in the present instead of staring at the past.

How Can Personal Development Therapy Help You?
Personal development and growth takes time, but sometimes you don’t even know where to start. You may know you’re “off” but don’t know why. Or you know exactly the reason for your distress and are ready to address it, even just by talking and no action. I will give you that safe space to process your concerns, uncertainties, fears, and more.
Here’s how you can be more empowered when we work together:
- Gaining awareness and insight into identity (values, beliefs, life goals, your image of the future in your best self)
- Exploring passion, fulfilment, purpose, interests, strengths
- LGBTQIA+ support (clarifying your gender and/or sexuality identity and expression, pronouns you feel comfortable using, support in the community, freedom in identity not based on anyone else’s label)
- Stress, anxiety, and depression management (coping skills such as healthy self-soothing, relaxation, mindfulness)
- Decreasing barriers, perceived and realistic (using expressive art/music and other strategies to move past blocks, change behaviors and choices)
- Life skills training (planning ahead, scheduling, organization tools)
My hope is to help you achieve peace within yourself so you can be the best version of you. Want to know more about how you can achieve your desire by online therapy with me? Of course you do!
